He is my favorite character but the last seasons destroyed him. Watch S1 and S2 and enjoy his character. Everything after that is too bad to watch.

And I think he got better in the later seasons. I can't stand the arrogant frat boy stuff and wish they'd stop writing that BS entirely but at least it isn't every episode anymore.

I thought the frat boy stuff is a lot of better than the class clown acting in the last seasons. Also he was still competent in the earlier seasons. Later he didn't seem to be someone with 10+ years experience in law enforcement.

My theory is if you examined Tony's detective badge closely, it would have been plastic and said "Kellogg's Sheriff of Breakfast" on it. Just nobody noticed.

No. In the earlier seasons (and in the Baltimore-episode) we see how intelligent he is but later... I blame the authors. He is such an amazing character with so many possibilities.

DiNozzo was always obnoxious and incompetent, even when it was him and Kate.

No. They've kept the theme of him being nosy and observant since season one, and fairly consistent with the point that it makes him a good investigator but a lousy co-worker.
