Oh god yeah. He's an asshole who is borderline incompetent 99% of the time and deserves a serious punch in the dick. I kinda hope when the series ends, it ends with him being passed over for promotion and the team leader position going to McGee or Ziva because they are light years ahead of him in both likability and basic competence. I know it won't because, yeah nonny you nailed it, the pathetic whiny manchild is the fandom and writer's darling.

I also don't like Abby any longer. She is way too old to be wearing the kind of fetish fuel outfits they cram her into. I wouldn't want her to stop being a perky goth, but even perky goths start wearing more age appropriate apparel before they end up looking like an old transvestite.

Disagree about Abby, esp. since that aspect of her is modeled on the actress who is older than her character and still wears that stuff. I love that she does what she wants even if someone says she's "too old" because that's just stupid.

Abby's whole style is about dressing to please herself whenever possible - she's not going to dress more "age appropriate" (there's no exact definition for this *anyway*) anymore than she's going to dress more "work appropriate" (unless there's a court appearance).

Apparently, "in universe" he's actually really competent. When Gibbs retiers for a few months he's very sucessful as team leader.

Unfortunately, the writers can't seem to *remember* that and end up writing him as incompetent - but then have the other characters say he's competent (if irritating). It's become an "informed attribute".

They have had his nosy tendencies turn out to be an asset to him as an investigator with at least some consistency. He'll be screwing around at a crime scene (or appearing to be) and then we find out that he's just discovered that a room is too small so there must be a hidden portion, or he recognizes the perfume of a suspect, etc.

And when it's just him and Gibbs, they've seemed less afraid to show him maturing (I love Bounce), and I keep hoping it'll spread, but then he turns into a bully again and it drives me crazy.

I don't like Abby any longer, not because of the clothes, but because the writers appear to have made her vacillate between Queen Issues and Duchess Childlike. She's an adult. Have her act like it.
