I need new friends

My mom was the only person in the world to say happy birthday to me. None of my friends did and it hurts a lot. It isn't like they had no way of knowing since it's on my profile and stuff and one friend even said she knew it was coming up and asked what day it was.

Oooh, I have been there... Things changed a lot and I have a couple of friends now, but to this day and I hide my birthday from everyone because this way, when no one wishes me a happy birthday, I can tell myself it's because I never told anyone, and not because nobody cares.

I once had a year where only one person remembered my birthday. It sucks, but what it is telling you is not that you need new friends, but that you need to reach out to your friends more and give them gentle reminders in the week or two prior to the occasion. When I told people it was my birthday, they all got sad at me for not reminding them in advance.

Aaaw birthdays are special, but it could just be you need more close friends - as I find casual friends rarely say happy birthday. I don't, because I don't notice the facebook notifications, so i tend only to remember those close-close friends. So like 3 people...and only one of my parents (SORRY DAD)

I had a "friend" who cancelled plans with me on my birthday--the very day of, so I was left by myself because everyone else was busy already. I ended all contact with her very recently and I'm already a lot happier. so yeah, anon, I would say you're better off without them.
