So, why care about anything? Why do anything? We're all going to die, right? Why even go to the job that allows you to pay for the ISP that gives you access to this site? Why even post this? Even if any of us take it to heart, it won't matter.

The problem with your line of thinking is that it's all about being okay with offing yourself, rather than being okay with living.

Going out of your way to preserve a culture its younger generation doesn't want to=/=oh emm gee why not just kill myself.

But talking about how the sun will engulf the earth and therefore things don't matter basically does = oh emm gee why not just kill myself.

If culture doesn't matter because we will die and our planet will die, then why do we matter? We don't. You and I are insignificant. If we cease to be, it will effect nothing of value.

This is the logical extremity of that line of thinking. You can either accept it or argue that it is not the case. And if it is not the case, then you must explain why certain human constructions matter while others do not.
