If it helps I didn't really get into it myself until around episodes 4 and 5, when stuff really starts happening (the anime moved things around a bit from the manga which may be part of why the first few eps flow so oddly, originally all the training stuff was in a flashback that didn't show up in the manga until around volume 4. The anime puts it in chronological order, which on the one hand I thought made the first few eps a bit dull but on the other I felt like the placement of the flashback was really awkward in the manga, so idk). The animation unfortunately kinda comes and goes, the series has been having some issues with production delays because the studio apparently underestimated the amount of time and work the series was going to require. It does have some great-looking stuff with the 3D maneuver gear later on, though.
