Re: Zimmerman and Trayton
(Anonymous) 2013-06-30 12:02 am (UTC)(link)I still think it's hilarious that they used pictures of Trayvon Martin from when he was 12 because "more recent photos make him look like a thug." That quote is from the pretrial evidentiary hearings.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-30 07:52 am (UTC)(link)Re: Zimmerman and Trayton
(Anonymous) 2013-06-30 11:01 am (UTC)(link)The upsetting thing is that a young man is dead, another man's life has been destroyed, and that's not counting their loved ones or their community. But instead of focusing on what led to this tragedy (i.e. racism, a dangerous law, and recurrent crime ignored by law enforcement, to name a few), law enforcement and local justice officials got wrapped up in the apparently contrived version of events the media reported and acted on that instead of facts that had great potential to turn needed attention to the underlying problems. That potential remains but is diminished and it's less likely now that they'll be addressed in the legislature because everyone's much more concerned with pointing fingers with one hand and covering their asses with the other.
