[Picture is the screen-capture of an Australian news website.

The highlighted news says: "Labor returns to Kevin Rudd in bid to avoid election wipeout. Leadership ballot - which Rudd won 57 to 45 - must now be confirmed by hung parliament for Rudd to be sworn is as Prime Minister". All the other links and news sections in the screen-captured image are about reactions to those news.]

My first thought when hearing about this was that I'd love to see some The Thick Of It-like vaguely fictionalised version of this. I know it's serious stuff but...I miss The Thick Of It.

Bonus secret: I'm neither British nor Australian.

Took me a while, you mean The Thick of It?. I'd just like to see more of that, not an Australian version.

An... Australian politics secret?

Haha, wow. I'm not sure what "TTOI" is, but at least someone's getting some form of enjoyment out of Australian politics.

Me? I just find it depressing. I think I'll just draw cartoons all over my paper when I have to vote.

take it from an Australian, this shit is just the tip of the ice berg

Tony Abbot is pretty much our version of Mitt Romney

The world just needs more Malcolm Tucker.

... You're British nor Australian but you're interested in Aussie politics? But why? Even Australians barely give a damn about Aussie politics.

Maybe they're from New Zealand? Kiwis notice Aussies more than the reverse.

I am trying to bury my head in the sand here as an Australian. The only time I've discussed this at length was one of those phone surveys the day after the leadership spill. Australian politics is fucked, and Abbott makes me want to leave Earth.

Someone from NZ here and yeah we get a lot of Aussie politics coverage. It's pretty entertaining in its drama compared to local politics.

this anon is also mad and trying to bury head in the sand

our politics is like a bad drama

Yeah, Aussie here and I noticed when I was in NZ that they get a lot of aussie stories on their news. Probably the equivelent to the amount of American crap we get on aussie news (oh an elephant escaped from a zoo in America today- i mean really?!).

I hate Abbott, I will be so disappointed with Australia if he gets in. Well more disappointed then I already am.

Personally, I want the original Chaser's War on Everything cast back to talk about this.

I think it's the only thing that made me feel okay about terrible politics.
If they got me through Howard, they can get me through this.

I feel like I'm being forced to vote for Labor even after all of the shit they've pulled just because I despise Tony Abbott.
If the Liberal government had a more charismatic leader, they would almost look tempting to me right now.

I will never admit that IRL though, because I actually vote Greens in local elections. Hell, if we had a Sex Party rep here...

But our politics terrify me.
