Thing is, for Stiles, his Dad's probably going to get *even more* involved if he finds out about werewolves. So from Stiles perspective his Dad is already in danger and might be put in *even more* danger by knowing. Informing his Dad might make it possible for them to arm him with Wolfsbane bullets (or whatever weapon), but that's offset by the increased involvement and thus increased contact.

I, personally, think that his Dad would be better off knowing, but I can see why Stiles (who almost certainly *isn't* thinking clearly on this subject) might not be able to come to that conclusion.
