This is, of course, just my personal opinion on it and I've already previously stated here on F!S how I have issues with the show's writing. I find it flawed and the fact that it tackles this trope does not endear me to it because I find it doesn't create the necessary balance between danger and safety of knowledge/ignorance well.
And, yeah, I get that Stiles isn't thinking clearly on this topic. It's why I've given him so much leeway, actually. I understand love makes you blind to things. The thing is, there's only so far I'm willing to go before I think that's no longer an excuse. Granted, I also don't think being stupid is a bad thing. People make stupid decisions all the time. People make mistakes. Mistakes are fascinating in a character. I just think that a show should show a mistake as a mistake and I doubt Teen Wolf would do that because I have little faith in it.
...If Stiles uses Scott there shouldn't be a problem. Stile's dad likes Scott. Either you and I have very different interpretations of the Sheriff or you know something I don't. Granted, he may be freaked out and scared and maybe have an initial bad reaction but I honestly doubt he'll become a hunter or something and kill whoever Stiles outed. I really can't see that as a legitimate worry.
I dunno, I feel like I'm beating a dead horse with all this talk since you said you think he should be told too. I don't know. I feel like I'm completely overselling my view.
