yeah, actually, there was a fragment of the first book in one of my school textbooks, back when I was like twelve. I almost went and bought the book but then forgot about it (phew), so it seems it's aimed at a young audience, whether the author intended to or not??

I take textbooks with a grain of salt. They're how I ended up seeking out the works of Anne McCaffrey, after all, not to mention such delightful childhood traumas as The Lottery and The Cold Equations.

Not the same anon. I wrote the previous secret and that was the only book in the series I ever read. Though given the discussion that followed my secret, I have been thinking about reading the entire series.

Interesting. I wonder if this secret was inspired by yours, then.

Although the series got kind of disappointing for me closer to the end, I would recommend it - also, however, I would suggest you google a fic called Song of the Grey Wolf, which is about Durc's story after Ayla leaves the clan, because I was always disappointed the books themselves didn't explore that aspect.
