No, it isn't. But that might just be me; I was never able to stand Jondalar.

When I first read Valley of the Horses, it felt like every time I was satisfyingly engrossed in the worldbuilding and survival aspects of Ayla's side of the story, I'd turn the page and it'd be 'Oh great, we're back to this asshole again.'

By the time the two of them met up, I solidly hated him (and when Ranec showed up, wished she'd choose him instead, primarily out of spite).

Haha, Jondalar gets a little douchebaggy right around the time Ranec appears. I remember rolling my eyes at how he's wallowing in self-pity all the time.
