it's my favourite book of his! It's 'Young Adult' but it is so clever and subversive and fun and punny and surprisingly poignant. A+ will read again.

The Kryptonite Kid and good god did it depress me. I was hate reading it at first, but then WHAM it got good for me. Depressing me is a good thing.

The book I am reading now is Driver's Guide to Operation, Safety, and Licensing. It's car time.

My "to read" pile is based on that cyberpunk thread someone made a while back, so my last book was 'Snow Crash'. Currently reading Neuromancer.

I'll, erm, wait until deathtoll's gone to bed before I say what I'm thinking...

I read all the current Flavia de Luce books in a string. I was reading Good Omens but got thrown off and so for whatever reason I've picked up Bleak House as my bedtime book.
ext_81845: screencap of dusty attenborough with a thoughtful expression, also STUBBLE, from legend of the galactic heroes (think it over)

The last book I finished was IQ84 by Murakami and I'm reading Role Models by John Waters right now, a collection of essays that's uh, interesting. I think I enjoyed the article on Rei Kawakubo the most because it was only sort of about Comme Des Garçons, it seemed to mostly be about various weird/creepy bars around Baltimore that Waters frequents which kinda makes me want to move to Baltimore for two seconds before realizing uh no

I enjoyed IQ84, mainly the way it was written and how Murakami describes the mundane everyday habits of the characters like their exercise and diet routines. There were some unfinished questions at the end of the novel that bothered me. I also enjoyed the format of the book (the edition I had anyway), with three volumes in a slipcover -- it made it a lot easier to take to work with me because it was less bulky than a huge book

I'm starting/trying to read The Game of Thrones for like the millionth time. I have gotten farther than last time (which isn't a hard feat since it was page 1).

Before that I read, a light mystery novel called The Chick and the Dead by Casey Daniels.

Last one: American Gods and I quite enjoyed it. It didn't feel that long even though I took about 3 weeks to finish it
Currently: 2001 A Space Odyssey!!!!!! but only about 15 pages into it :C The bane of only reading when in commute :/

Last one I finished was How Music Works by David Byrne, it was great. Currently I'm reading a rather trashy romance novel called Born to be Wild which is about how a sheriff and a veterinarian totes have the hots for each other, but also has shapeshifters and a mystery going on in the background. XD It's fun.

The last book I read was a biography of Robert Ingersoll ("The Great Agnostic" by Susan Jacoby). I haven't started a new one since then -- been trying to concentrate on my writing -- though I have a small stack of other books out from the library. Including a William Gibson novel, but I think it's been long enough since the last time I read the ones that come before it in the series that I need to go back and read those before I start this one.

The last book I read was "Ganymede" by Cherie Priest, and I'm currently reading "The Sacrifice" by Kristine Kathryn Rusch and "The Business of Death" by Trent Jamieson. (Or, well, I'm reading the omnibus of the trilogy. I'm on the second one, maybe about halfway through.)

The last book I finished was a self-published number by an online game/movie critic called SMB3: Brick-By-Brick. It's half autobiography and half a Let's Play. For a self-published book, it's not bad.

I always have about half a dozen books started and right now they're all nonfiction. That's more or less the way it's been for the last six years, honestly. Like right now I have Paganism in the Roman Empire and Teach Yourself Complete Babylonian next to the desk, and two more started on the Kindle in the other room that I'd have to go look at to remember, and one in my backpack with a bookmark in it in case I need something to read on the bus.

I want to say the last book I finished was Alastair Reynold's Chasm City, though I've a horrible feeling there was something since then that I've totally blanked out. It took a while to come together, and I feel it was unnecessarily slow - two-thirds of it was mostly just framing for the plot strand that was actually compelling - but that didn't stop it being good. Sidenote: has a badass trans woman minor character, if you care about that sort of thing.

Right now I'm reading Silk by Caitlin R Kiernan. I would describe it as lesbian grunge horror. Seriously, it was her first novel and is never subtle but I really love how the traditional horror elements - monsters, scary insects, religious overtones - are mixed with the banal horrors of poverty, domestic violence and mental illness. And it's all early-90s, set in Birmingham, AL and full of punks and goffs and drugs and queers. It made me vaguely nostalgic for all the grottier bits of my past and I've never even been to Birmingham.
