Have you heard Kesha without the autotune? She sounds amazing!

Are there any other singers that you've been surprised by how well they sing without autotune or disappointed?

I remember being really impressed with Kurt Cobain's "unplugged" performance. I remember thinking "Oh wow he actually has a really nice voice."

I hate autotune. It makes everyone sound so generic.

Lady Gaga. It's not always autotune though, current record production favors flattening the dynamic range for projection in clubs, car radios, and cheap headphones. Put her on stage where she's not limited by beat-matching and can shift her inflection and she's not bad. Or give her Tony Bennett's producer instead.

Yes, all of this. A lot of the music in her songs also drowns her out somewhat. But when you can really hear her, I quite like her voice.

Oh, wow. That's fantastic.

I've also liked what of Taylor Swift's live performances I've heard. She did a live cover of Drops of Jupiter that's really good. Colbie Callait, whose name I cannot spell, did a version of Don'tcha that was really good live too but I don't know enough about her to know if she autotunes anyway.

I wish she did stuff like this more often.
