Beautiful doesn't mean sexy!

(Anonymous) 2013-07-04 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
I think I'm latem but whatevs.

I get really annoyed by how you can't find something beautiful without it being taken as a fetish of some sort. Like, I'm a straight woman, and I find women's legs really beautiful. I like the shape and are fun to draw. But I can't say this out loud because people immediately take it to me being a lesbian. Aaaaand the most annoying for me: I think young, delicate-looking boys are really cute and aesthetically pleasing. But I definitely can't say it out loud, because everyone will think I'm a pedophile :( I don't want to have sex with, and I don't think of them while uh, pleasing myself? I just think they're pretty! To look at! Like statues or paintings!

That's what words like "graceful" and "adorable" are for, even though they're inaccurate.

But yeah, IA it's eye-rolling and ridiculous. And totally agree with you on how nice little boys look, especially scrawny little ones who look like all their skeletal structures have been miniaturized. They make me want to just hug and squish them because they are such bony little cutie pies.

I probably sound like a total weirdo, but whatever...

...are you me?

I don't have a particular thing for ladies' legs, but I find that people of both genders and a variety of ages can be very aesthetically attractive. I get the same sort of pleasure from looking at them as I do from looking at a particularly nice piece of art. That's actually pretty normal I think. I'm only sexually attracted to dudes; it's a different kind of attraction. (I can also find a particular dude aesthetically pleasing but not sexually attractive.)

I think women are beautiful in general and I love drawing them (legs are just fun to draw period, man or woman) but I also consider myself straight. Seeing the beauty in someone's physical appearance is different than feeling emotional, romantic or sexual desire for that person.
