It's nothing to do with her appearance or age - she's a total fox! But she's a pretty terrible person (although, to be fair, so are all the other characters), and without the comedic gloss on her behavior she'd be a monster. Then again, she's an unequivocal badass and has some of the best lines on the show, so sometimes my crush seems completely justified. It's just that there's no denying she'd be a horrible person to know irl.

I kind of feel like she's more of a terrible person than most of the other characters?

I feel like she's significantly worse than Lana, Ray, Archer, and Pam (Lana and Ray are the closest to being decent people on the staff, Archer and Pam are tremendous dickheads but they have a lot of humanizing moments). She's better than Cheryl and Krieger (because they are terrifying sociopaths) and probably about as terrible as Cyril (the only real difference is that Cyril lacks the confidence to just go balls out with like Mallory does).

She is a total fucking badass though! That's true.

I will share with you my own personal story of cognitive dissonance. On Once Upon a Time (at least S1, which is all I've seen), Regina is super hot. Everything about her - the clothes, the attitude, the face obviously. I'd probably just sit around and salivate in her direction if I lived in her town. In real life? I work with a woman who is who Regina would be if she actually was a real person, and I hate her. Flat out hate her. She's incredibly self-centered, vain, evil, and an all around pain in the ass. I don't find her or those attributes attractive at all. It's kind of jarring, actually.
