I'm not having any trouble sleeping, dude. I just don't see why you feel the need to defend not-liking-the-taste-of-alcohol-makes-you-a-stupid-child!anon. I defended you upthread against accusations that you were trolling, and I think you're a pretty cool guy. Please don't prove me wrong here.

BECAUSE I DON'T THINK THEY WERE SERIOUS. The whole "lol drink grape juice then" comment is OBVIOUSLY SARCASTIC. That's been the problem this whole shitheap of a thread, too many people taking shit at face value.

Unfortunately, I've run into enough people (on this very comm, even) who are personally offended by the idea that other people might not enjoy the taste of alcohol, and think that anyone who dislikes the taste is immature/unsophisticated/a liar, that I'm not at all convinced that grape-juice!anon was being sarcastic. I know that your joke upthread got blown out of proportion by people who thought you meant it more maliciously than you did, but I don't think the same thing is happening here.

I'm sorry, but the tone of the thread OP's comment just comes off as snarky and sarcastic. And anyway, this is Fandom Secrets, snark is our stock in trade. Any actual malice has mostly been from anons horrified that people might actually want to drink alcohol.

What you interpreted as sarcastic, I interpreted as sneering. I haven't actually seen that much malice against the idea that people might want to enjoy alcohol (though certainly my own confirmation bias may be at work there) - most people who don't personally drink seem to be explicitly qualifying their statements with "but it's okay if other people do" disclaimers, at least that I've noticed. But I've seen a lot of people here who seem sincerely offended that there are people who don't like the taste of something they themselves enjoy.
