I think AYRT's comment was in bad taste, but the OP is undoubtedly very immature and demonstrated as much, so it might have just been an in-poor-taste way to jab at that immaturity. I don't think they were being entirely serious...but maybe I read it wrong

Problem is, it's an opinion I see being expressed all up and down this thread. Many of us genuinely hate the taste of alcohol, but respect that other people enjoy it and see no problem with them drinking if they want to. But we're being told we're childish and factually wrong for not liking what we don't like. So if that's what AIRT meant, then they went about saying it in a shitty and stupid way.

I do see some comments saying "It's an acquired taste and you'll grow into it" and I agree those are stupid. Maybe some people will acquire the taste, but as I said elsewhere, it's ok not to, and it's also ok not to even WANT to.

I first got the impression that anon was just making the point that they thought OP was immature, and going about it in a stupid way. But it seems likely, having read more comments and replies, that anon really does believe that disliking alcohol is a mark of immaturity, which is especially stupid. And it's ironic considering that OP demonstrated their immaturity in a ton of ways that had nothing to do with not liking alcohol.

Exactly. There were so many deeply dumb things that OP said, and yet a lot of people here are fixating on the bit about not liking the taste of alcohol, and choosing THAT to castigate them (and everybody else who doesn't like the taste) over. Apparently the existence of people who dislike certain tastes is profoundly offensive?
