AYRT

Wait what?? Not at all... I think people should drink to whatever extent makes them happy or whatever works for them. Sometimes I want to get drunk. Sometimes I just want a glass of wine or a cocktail I like because I like it. And often I don't want to drink at all. All of these options are perfectly fine. It's absolutely possible to drink without the intent to get drunk, and it's definitely enjoyable...

I think maybe you're misinterpreting my first point, which is that I hate when people feel the need to respond to posts like these with comments about how *they* would never ever get *drunk* (because that's only for awful people), but they also don't judge people who drink!!!! Unless they "binge drink" in which case they're awful. I don't think I'm expressing myself well, but I guess it just really bugs me that people seem to have this idea that drinking is only okay if you never get drunk, and if you ever drink with the intention of getting drunk, you're unhealthy or awful. Many of my weekends probably count as "binge drinking" according to the definitions people seem to hold in some of these comments, and I don't think there's actually anything wrong with the amount that I drink.

I guess I'm just trying to say: people are different, and that's okay! If you never want to drink ever, more power to you! If you only drink a couple times a year and only because you like the taste, have at it! If you like the feeling of getting drunk and you often drink to get drunk in addition to enjoying the taste, go for it! They are all okay. You don't have to always stop yourself at half a glass of wine to still be an okay person. That's the implication that bugs me in some of these comments.

Sorry for the confusion!

Oh, sorry if I misread that then! ;-;

I do sometimes make comments like "I prefer to drink, not get drunk" but it tends to be in response to people who think the ONLY point of alcohol is getting wasted, or believe alcohol is totally evil, or whatever. Like some people do not understand that any possibility exists between "always a teetotaler" and "totally shitfaced".

Basically I find people on both sides of the argument annoying. They can be really shitty to each other.
