Elementary may deal with certain issues better, but at the cost of not really feeling like Sherlock Holmes anymore, IMO. I'm a huge fan of the stories and many adaptations (with my favorite not being Sherlock, but Granada and the various Russian SHs, including female Watson and female Holmes), but Elementary barely shares the names of the characters and a very few other things with the canon (and I'm not talking about a female Watson, which could have been a brilliant move). The cases are boring and predictable and it just tries too hard to be different from Sherlock - at the cost of not feeling like Sherlock Holmes anymore. And the fandom is very annoying, too. I understand their sensitivity after what happened with parts of the Sherlock fandom, but you can't criticize the show in any way without that you will be jumped at, no matter how valid your opinion might be and even if your critic doesn't mention Sherlock in any way. It's one of the most frustrating fandoms out there.
