He's an author, and half of the team of Vlogbrothers on youtube. They (he and his brother Hank) created the fandom of "Nerdfighters" who spread awesome and decrease world suck. (their words)

He wrote the hipster classic "Looking for Alaska", then "Paper Towns", "An Abundance of Katherines", "Will Grayson Will Grayson" and "The Fault in Our Stars".

It's true, people either love him or hate him. I love the fandom he's created, but I personally find his books formulamatic, predictable and a bit pretentious. Though I do owe my passing of my college world history class to his "Crash Courses" on youtube.
