Salad Fingers, lol. My friend made me watch that in high school, and for some reason the main character's voice made me want to cry. It just sounded so SAD, which I guess wasn't the point.

There's not really any explanation. People are just different. Some people like eggplant, other people (rightly) think that it's disgusting. No explanation. No point in looking for one, either. And there's nothing wrong with it anyway, so just like who you like and quit worrying over it.

My whole life, I've liked "ugly" characters and guys. I was picked on for it the entire time I was in school. More than anything, I wish to know WHY I only like the ugly, scarred or deformed ones. I try liking "pretty" or conventional attractive guys, but I just can't. On the positive side, over the years I seem to have started liking less villainous examples.

I always thought Predators were kinda hot, but only with the mask on. In any case, like who you like. We all have different taste. It sucks that people gave you shit for it, but it's not something to worry about. Nothing wrong with you.

Maybe a little less hot without the mask, but the addition of teeth in the upper jaw ( AvP movie) certainly didn't hurt. ( They were called "the Hollywood teeth" in the sfx commentary on the dvd and Scar referred to as the "leading man".)

Well, somebody has to find them attractive. If nobody found them attractive ever, it would sure punch a hole through that "appearances aren't everything" shtick.

Liking the villains is a bit unfortunate, though.

Personally I'm surprised that you got picked on for such a thing and it really sucks that you had to go through it. :\

Allow me to offer my own explanation... and I literally mean *my* explanation for why *I* have so often been attracted to characters considered unattractive, villainous, or damaged. I have no clue if it relates to yours or not.

My unconscious thoughts I have dug up over the years:
Imagining myself as a mate or even a friend to these characters puts me in the role of a savior, someone exceptionally good at seeing past outer appearances, and whose goodness may "change" a bitter heart. It puts me in a position of power over my imaginary crush, because they are grateful for my attention, and they could not expect to receive the same love from anyone else. In addition, I would be better and/or more beautiful than them, even if I were far from perfect myself.

You may have another reason for your theme of attraction. I don't expect everyone is as creepy as me deep down inside.

Strangely enough, I ended up marrying a man who is kind, conventionally attractive, and well liked. We get along wonderfully. (I still have a bit of a soft spot for damaged characters, though.)
