I played through The Last of Us in three days last week, and I'm still reeling from it. Normally I stay far, far away from survival horror games because I'm jumpy as hell and tend to freak out easily, but other than having to stop a couple times to calm down and let my hands stop hurting from gripping the controller too hard, I couldn't put this game down. I'm recommending this one to everyone.

And there's one thing I really, really like about it that I haven't discussed with anyone yet, that isn't a defining factor in my reasons for liking this game but definitely adds to my experience: there is no rape.

I mean, I don't expect rape to happen in post-apocalyptic stories, but it's not uncommon for a female character to be sexually assaulted or threatened with sexual assault. And NONE of that happens in TLoU. There is one line where someone asks Joel what he'd do if Ellie was raped and killed, and that's it. And I know it shouldn't be a huge deal, but I just feel really excited that a game this dark and violent sidesteps rape altogether.
