Using the slash comparison is disingenuous. Homosexual people exist, alpha/beta/omega people don't.

"Not getting" something that really happens is really different than "not getting" something purely fictional.

oh please like yaoi really happens in real life. when someone says "i don't get slash" they don't mean "i don't understand homosexual people" they mean "i don't understand why so many people like to consume fanfic and fanart about fantasy m/m pairings"

That...doesn't quite track, because most slash isn't at all realistic. It serves the needs of certain peoples' fantasies.
