Re: Could you beat up the protagonist(s) in your favourite series?

I'm 100% sure Otacon knows how to defend himself. They didn't say it in canon, but come on, ten years of living on the run? He knows how to kick and run. (And if the indication he tampers with Snake's weapons gives us something, maybe he can even shoot).

Project Itoh's book tells us it was actually Otacon who found an ANCIENT CQC MANUAL and Snake taught himself how to do it. Using Otacon as a punching bag, lol. Yes, it's in the novel. I prefer this variant of canon to the idea Big Boss taught him, tbh.

I think he probably knows the basics (how to throw a punch, where to kick to do the most damage, that sort of thing, and how to fire a gun. If he's good at those things is another question, but I firmly believe that Snake taught him at some point. Otacon was too important for him not to.)

I haven't read that particular novel...maybe I should look it up. The ancient CQC thing is downright hilarious but I like the mental image of poor Hal having to be Snake's 'partner' whilst learning CQC. He better have given him a massage after all that!

Otacon was too important for him not to. <-- It would have been damn irresponsible not too! Even more so, Otacon is right there on the field on MGS2 (Big Shell chapter).

I haven't read it complete, but a friend of mine has it and says it's AMAZINGLY GOOD. All her crays, seriously. (And the CQC manual, was on a file Hal hacked, it's not an old, frayed book or something XDD I bet he got the massage 8|b)

He was! Again, no way Snake would've allowed him to be in that kind of danger without properly preparing him for what he might face. Didn't he make an offhanded comment about Otacon coming with him to Shadow Moses in MGS4? I'm sure he didn't expect Otacon to actually accept, but that was cute.

Mmm, crays. Wonder if it's very shippy? (DON'T RUIN THE ILLUSION. I'm imagining Snake in Lara Croft shorts. He damn well better have! There's probably fic of it out there.)

I remember that! ;; And after that, he asks Otacon to jump to Outer Haven with him. *SHIPS SO HARD*

... IT'S SHIPPY AS FUCK. Seriously. It's the main reason I want that book so hard. My friend gave me a couple of small spoilers and it was like reading a fucking shonen-ai novel. I was like, wow.

Snake is a secret sweetheart. Not really. Okay...just a bit.

it was like reading a fucking shonen-ai novel

Can't be much worse than the games, tbh. However...I think I might order it now because I need more Snake/Otacon in my life and I'm interested in knowing what's there in an official capacity. Thank you for mentioning it!
