I'd have more sympathy if it hadn't been the optional extra of ice cream. Hey. Hey. If the ice cream is going to make you sick? Don't eat the ice cream.

(Wanting gluten-free or lactose-free main dishes is a valid thing, but seriously? Ice cream?)

I kind of agree, but at the same time, I've been to events where I they have options I can eat for the main meal, but for dessert they don't make anything available so I just have to sit there while everyone around me eats delicious pies and shit. Not fun. I've also been to an ice cream social where ice cream was literally all that was offered. I didn't eat it though. I just stood around passive-aggressively resenting everyone else for being able to eat it. Which is... much better? Or not.
