Justice League International, as mentioned before. I also really want to recommend Cosmic Odyssey. It's a 4-part mini-series that was not only a major character moment for John Stewart, but also gave some very strong hints as to Darkseid's longterm plans (which come to fruition in Final Crisis, 20 years later.)

There's something to be said for the Batman books of the time too -- Arkham Asylum: A Serious House On Serious Earth, Killing Joke, The Cult... I'd also recommend the arcs "The Diplomat's Son" and "Night People."

This isn't one of those secrets. This is a secret where I narrow my eyes and think, 'What a stupid reason to judge anybody.'

Mirror

For the first time ever I looked in the mirror and thought I was pretty.

I have always been someone who barely looked in a mirror and tried not to actually look at myself. Ever since middle school I would avoid actually looking at myself because I hated how I looked.

I'd have people tell me I have a really pretty face and I would smile and say thank-you but never actually believe them.

I'm in my late 20s and over the past year I've lost some weight, got my teeth fixed, my acne finally started to stop and though I still have giant pores, I looked in the mirror and thought, I look really pretty. Then I actually cried because that is something I never thought I would be able to think about myself.

I just wanted to share that, I don't want to put it on my journal because I don't want people to think I just want the attention or people to tell me how pretty I am. So anon.

Too bad the later retreads always fell apart eventually. Nobody's been quite able to match Marv Wolfman's work.

Man. I need to do dishes, clean out refrigerator and go shopping. But I take one step into my kitchen and lose the will to live. Some days, I think it would be worth it to hire a Merry Maid type service with people I never need to see again and have them clean this place top to bottom.

Because I think if I could just GET it that way, keeping that way wouldn't be so difficult.

It's an ugly, distorted take on Silver Age comics, just like the story and characters.

Maybe they're being shallow. Or maybe there's something going on in their life that you don't know about and 100 casual "friends" are easier for them to deal with than 5 close friends that they can't talk to. You don't know. You can't ever know 100% what's going on in someone else's life behind closed doors, even if you think you do.

The people who are proud to be part of the big fandom mash-up that's currently taking over Tumblr at the time tend to be the most flighty and are usually just in it for the shipping and the pretties and TEH GHEY.
