(Seriously, I don't think kink-unfriendly fandoms exist. Vanilla fandoms, sure, but most fandoms have a kink in particular they latch onto, and large fandoms have several kinks. Unless your fandom is, like, six people or the Bible, I think you're exaggerating.)

And they will dogpile on your ass if you impugn the vanilla sexuality of their precious protagonist. I once made the "error" of slashing a certain hero with one of the supporting cast--not even hardcore, but holy shit, you would've thought there were handcuffs and gerbils involved. It was in an obscure fandom, I was prepared for it to be ignored, I WASN'T ready for haters to come out of the woodwork. Sheesh.

Not the OP, but trust me, they do exist. Tried to start a kink meme in my fandom. It had one fill (mine) and less than half a dozen prompts. And this is a subset of a HUGE fandom.

It depends on the fandom, and on the kinks. Certain things will be completely acceptable for one fandom or pairing but if you stray out of that niche, gods help you!

Sadly, you are wrong. There are a few kink-unfriendly fandoms and then there are also fandoms where there might be kink but there are oddly large and vocal anti-kink groups that dogpile and try to shame kink fic out of existence. Which works a sad amount of the time.

But it makes me happy that you haven't experienced this in any of your fandoms! I like to think that means it's on the decline and not something that is widely accepted.

My impression is that any reasonably large fandom will have a kink-friendly section. However, those who believe the fandom shouldn't have kink will regularly click on kinky fics just to complain about them. (This seems to particularly apply to kids' shows--some people seem to think any sexual content is defamatory to the source material, even if it's cute consensual sex between two adult characters.)
