Thank God I am not alone! Have I mentioned I've actually lived in Sweden?* and I am in Sweden at least once a year oh and I dated a Swede for about 4 years... And I can't for the life of me follow an conversation in Swedish! My ex and I spoke in English to each other... (For me it is easier to read Danish and understand spoken Swedish, but that is mostly because the Swedes lack the "potato in their throat" thing that you Danes got going on.) If we all just concentrate on speaking slowly and pronouncing our words we can understand each other, it is just when we mix into accents and the fact that most of us are pretty fast speakers we run into trouble!
Ohh now I want to speak to you to see if you understand me! I can't believe you have never met a Swede or a Norwegian person! Then again I guess you guys mostly go to Germany and so on for holidays not Norway and Sweden.
*When I was really young, not for that long, but my uncle was the manager thingy at an hotel in Sweden and I lived with him and my grandparents for like a year...
