Nuh uh, anon. Not the only one.

If you were talking about the tabletop RPG rather than the computer game based on it, you could count this as at least one shit officially given.

Well, half a shit. I stopped having ideas for Vampire a while ago; I'm really more of a Changeling kind of girl.

I've little interest in the tabletop game (nothing against VtM itself, I just don't do tabletop -- I don't even have a table!) but Bloodlines is genuinely fantastic, especially with the fanpatch.

Fair enough. I never really got into PC games, but I do a lot of tabletop gaming (and I've never let the lack of a table stop me; as long as you've got a hardcover book, you've got a dice-rolling and character-sheet-writing surface. And the gaming books are hardcover. Coincidence? I think not.)

Well, if you ever decide to give Bloodlines a try, it's relatively cheap on Steam ($20US) and will probably drop to like five bucks during the impending sale.

A fanpatch? What does that do? I'm sorta considering getting this game, and fanpatches are always welcome.

I'm another half a shit for the tabletop RPG. That was my favorite RPG for years.

I do!

I mean, come on. It's Deus Ex with vampires. Of course I'm going to be all over that.

This reminds me that I've been meaning to replay that game.

I don't know the computer game, but I used to RP from the White Wolf world... and I ASSURE YOU, god, what would my inner teenager give to live in a world with a broken masquerade. I'd become a vampire in a heartbeat.

Too bad I'd probably end up a Malkavian. CAN'T ESCAPE THE MESSED UP MIND, NOT EVEN WHILE UNDEAD.

I was more into the WoD table RPGs (pre Time of Judgment) rather than the videogames but this secret brings back so many good memories from almost ten years ago. Thank you, anon and you're not alone!

[Picture is the case cover of the computer videogame "Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines". It has a woman with blonde hair and high pigtails on the upper sides of her head looking over her shoulder at the viewer. She is standing at a nighttime street, wearing blue jean pants and a white blouse with her midriff bared. Down the street, there is the silhouette of a man, who projects a strange shadow, not unlike the "Ankh" symbol.]

I'm still hoping that one day The Masquerade will break.

Secret because nobody gives a shit about this game.

I think "The Masquerade" refers to keeping secret the supernatural from regular humans.

Going to have to pass on that one OP the world that game is set in is pretty damn grim and being a human in it is basically kicking yourself to the bottom of the food chain. Between millenia old vampires, werewolf packs that kill anyone that enters their territory, psychopathic fairies, mages that play with the laws of reality for giggles and shits and actual motherfucking demons; I wouldn't want to even be on the same plane of reality as a place half that screwed up.

The World of Darkness setting is one of those places that's fun to play in, but if I ever got offered a trip there in reality, I would turn around and never stop running away, it would be like wishing for Warhammer 40k to be real, I prefer my soul uneaten by horrors beyond comprehension thank you very much.

I have to agree with this anon :B I don't want to be food. I don't want to be a vamp either, their politics are cray cray.

However, I DO love this game!

[identity profile] baranohanayome.livejournal.com 2013-07-10 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
The Garou actually aren't all that bad, really. They're the de facto "good guys" of the oWoD; their culture can be violent at times, but they're not really monsters and they can be reasoned with.

Except for the Red Talons. Run afoul of them and you're pretty much boned.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-10 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
You are not alone OP!

[identity profile] baranohanayome.livejournal.com 2013-07-10 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
A broken Masquerade would actually kind of suck, unless you were lucky enough to buddy up to a Garou who's willing to shield you from the worst of it. Think about it--the vampires are out, they have nothing left to lose, what's to stop them from running amok? Same goes for the mages and the changelings, who look upon mere mortals with a sort of scornful pity at the best of times. Fomori and drones? Everywhere and not even bothering to control their baser instincts. Black Spiral Dancers? Packs of 'em running wild in the streets.

oWoD is the very definition of grimdark. Breaking the vow of silence various supernaturals adhered to would only make it worse.

HOLY BALLS A VTMB SECRET

This is one of my favorite games of all time. So be comforted by the knowledge that at least 2 people give a shit about this game.

I still play this game sometimes. Well, at least the first half, before it got kind of shitty and hack-and-slash-y. The first 2/3 of that game is just....perfect.
