I only watched the movies, is there a lot of stuff in the books not pertaining to Harry?

Not really - except on a couple of short occasions, he's the PoV character, and a lot of things involve him.

I can't get through one chapter of a book with a protagonist I don't like. I can't imagine 7 books.

IMHO his character kind of wavers from unlikable to likable, so that helps. I think it's actually fun having a character I don't totally like, because it beats a character I'm supposed to like so much that I hate them. (I'm looking at you, Beautiful Swan Bella Swan.)

I read all the books and never really cared for Harry. Actively disliked him by the end. But the plot, world, and other characters were enough to keep me interested.

I don't like Harry much and still love the books and reread them often. I don't actively dislike him, he's just there to me.
