Re: The Equal Rights Amendment
(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)Justice may be blind, but human nature is not. Sometimes we have to put laws in place in order to make up for discrimination, because people won't stop shitting on people they think are "lesser" unless they're explicitly told they can't.
IMO, people who claim that these sorts of explicit non-discrimination laws are some sort of "special treatment" really don't understand what's going on - the laws are trying to level a playing field that's been made crooked by society.
