It's more or less the same for me. I don't have a source of income, don't have a credit card or paypal, and my family refuses to support my habits. So I pirate, because I'm a damn melomaniac who cannot live if not listening to music.

I try my best to buy once in a while to support a band I already like (my system is: Download, listen, if you like it you keep it and support it once you're able to). Meanwhile, I signal boost and spread knowledge and praise for the band. Maybe I'm not able to give them any money, but I try to make sure others will.
