OK OK I will be the broken record (every one of you should know what I am about to say rn even if you do not have a clue who I am):

Science Fiction writing =/= sitcom writing. At least insofar as plot, characters, plot, dialogue, plot, etc., plot, goes.

That said.

If Moffat wrote something on the level of, say, Red Dwarf or Spaced, THEN and only then would he be putting his sitcom/soap opera skills to good use. As it is w/DW and BBC!Sherlock .... Not so much.
