Hi! Plikt is the Norwegian word for Duty, and it is pronounced like this: http://vocaroo.com/i/s0TYaUURC9XZ

With bonus lecture on Norwegian, and stuff, and hopefully I don't manage to insult anyone, and that you can understand what I am trying to explain, and you can even hear me google in the end there because I was not sure if "A doll's house" is actually an Ibsen play, oh and I was talking about "The four big ones" Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, Alexander Kielland, Jonas Lie og Henrik Ibsen, and well I did make two mistakes, Moe and Lie is pretty similar sounding also not Aschehoug but Gyllendal Publishing, sorry about that.

Thanks for your answer! Yeah, even to my ear it does seem like an abrupt and potentially sharp word. And thanks especially for the added cultural context on the use of duty meaning more "law" than "obligation". That makes some more sense within the play too.

I'm afraid I don't know a lot else about Norwegian literature other than Ibsen (because I study theatre), but your other comments on it were interesting too. Wait actually I know of Bjørnson's "The Bankrupt" in passing but I haven't read it.

Thanks for taking the time to reply!
