How about the fact that, during a mission, she was acting unprofessional and picking arguments with her boyfriend? How about literally the only things she does in STID is back up Spock or fight with Spock? She was a cookie-cutter love interest even compared to frickin' Carol.

Oh! So you mean she had opinions and wasn't afraid to agree or disagree with her "boyfriend" during crucial missions?

Tell me something, did Kirk and Spock alternately fight and back each other up in the movie?

Or was that...different?

And frickin' Carol? So basically the two prominent females in this action movie better keep their hands off your OTP, amirite?

i cringed in that scene because she was essentially starting a lover's argument with her boyfriend in a stressful time during a mission. It was played a bit for laughs, a bit to hike up the tension and a bit to explicate Spock's emotional arc in the movie - but it was pretty unprofessional, and actually out of character for Nu!Uhura. Like, I ship K/S, I admit that, but I love Uhura and have no problem with her and Spock's relationship in the reboot. And it was my Uhura loving self which hated that scene in the sequel. I felt angry that they gave her those lines. And that's especially because Kirk was the one who got the emotional scene - payoff - with Spock at the end (while Uhura got to watch the boys fight and scream girlishly, wut).

I'm hoping the writers up their game and give her some empowering scenes in the threequel. Hey, I'd even settle for another fan dance, if she got to kick ass afterwards and the dance had nothing to do with her relationship with Spock.

Actually, Spock escalated when he said, "I didn't hear you". He's a Vulcan with super hearing. Of course he heard it. He could have ignored it, but he did not.

I'm sure it's just easier to blame Uhura. For everything. LOL... so transparent.

As we all know going to negotiate with Klingons is not kickass at all, it's not like they're not part of the federation yet and as such their behaviour is unpredictable and potentially violent. Oh wait she didn't punch multiple dudes in the face while doing twirling kicking motions so it doesn't count. My bad.

totally friendly reminder that:

* Kirk (and Spock) did worse in both movies and no one complains
(the totality of their interactions is arguments basically)
* Uhura saved the day 3 times in that movie:
- while the boys where safe in their little ship Uhura risked her neck trying to talk peace with the klingons and when the fight started she stabbed the klingon that almost killed her with his own knife.
- she saved both Kirk and Spock in the end by distracting Khan before he could kill Spock and by stopping Spock before he could kill Khan who was the only chance Kirk had to be revived
- she arranged the necessary links so that Spock could talk with Spock prime on new vulcan in a moment where all communications were interrupted due to the damage the ship endured after the attack by the vengeance
