Re: Share the premise(s) of whatever you're writing/planning to write/recently finished writing

I haven't wrote anything more than a drabble over the past few years but about three weeks ago I decided to start writing something with the main reason being that I wanted to see if I can write a mini-novel from my imagination. I also wanted to see how far can I push myself and trying to see if I can commit myself to such a task.

The fanfic is centered around an alternate New York City where it is extremely multicultural. It is mainly centered on two fandoms (one anime/manga, one webcomic) and revolves around two characters with most of the plot being told in third person. However, there will be other characters from other fandoms that shall play minor roles in the story, some obscure and others famous.

The story is that an Italian decides to emigrate to the city to provide some companionship to his brother as well as help him manage his cafe business that his brother runs with his boyfriend. One night, due to curiosity the Italian cautiously explores an abandoned church and finds a playable piano. After softly softly playing the instrument (and attracting some attention to the apartment residents next door), the Italian realized that he was not alone in that place and that a... person was seeking refuge inside the abandoned building before he arrived.

The other person is a part of a race of beings similar to humans but with some physical differences in terms of appearence. He came from a empire in the depths of Asia that is currently fracturing due to a civil war, causing him and thousands of others to flee to New York. On the evening before the Italian began to explore the church, he and his younger (twin?) brother received a letter that their maternal father was killed back home and got a package containing his bloodied clothes.

The elder brother didn't take it well.

Now the Italian and the elder brother began a sort-of-piano-listening lessons where the Italian would play some scores and étude's and the elder brother would watch and listen, entranced by the music, and secretly, by the Italian pianist (who learned how to play it due to his semi-strict upbringing by his foster parents).

That's the main gist of it, but I am hoping that by the end of the story the church gets converted into a concert hall (with some help from the nearby apartment residents) and that the elder brother would finally confess to the Italian that he likes him, but it's still a long way from completion.
