I've only seen a few episodes of Crossing Jordan, so I can't speak to the righteousness of this pairing, bu any plot line that could involve Miguel Ferrer getting some love scenes is wholly endorsed by me. Especially if he talks during them.

He actually had a love affair with one of his colleagues, Lily, in season 1.

If you could even call it that. They went on one date, then she was a passive-aggressive asshole towards him for the rest of season one. :(

I concur wholeheartedly! Miguel Ferrer is underrated and under-appreciated
