This is kinda morbid but

How do you want to be disposed of after you die? Burial or cremation? ...I feel like there are other options than those 2 but I can't think of them.

Imma donate myself to science, so I guess they cremate you when they're done with that. :)

Cremation, and then I'm going to be buried on family property. Before that my funeral is going to be a costume party. I want my urn to be box shaped so I can go as a box of Wheaties.

There are different ways of doing burial and cremation. For instance, you can have a "green burial." I think I'd also go the donate-to-science route.

The method my family feels most comfortable with. I won't be around anymore so I won't care. I'd like it to be the cheapest way possible, though. No point in sinking money into something for somebody who no longer cares. Fuck people who think the relatives aren't "respectful" enough to their dead if they don't waste a fuckton of money on a fancy coffin and shit like that; money doesn't grow on trees, the dead don't need it but the living still do!

What I want is to be buried unembalmed in a plain pine box, but I don't think the state I reside in allows that. :-(

That's what I want, too! Also not available in my area - I think there's only one natural burial cemetery in Canada so far. But maybe by the time I die, there will be more. Otherwise, cremation and scattering of ashes - I like the idea of rejoining the earth.

Some kind of green burial, ideally with a tree planted on top of me.

I've always been really uncomfortable with the idea of being preserved in a sealed box, or sitting in an urn on the mantle or something. It's the only thing I consider to be a "fate worse than death," so to speak. I'd never want to be cut off from the world of the living like that. And since I love being alive, helping other things live is the only thing that makes me feel a little better about not being around indefinitely, if that makes sense.

Cremation, probably. I don't know much about 'green burial', I suppose that might be an option.

I'd say "whatever my survivors want", but I understand it's harder on the survivors to have to make the call...

One of the fun, modern ways of corpse disposal, like becoming a home for mushrooms or a tree.

Or turned into a diamond. I will be fabulous FOREVER.

That is, after organ donors have gotten what they can from my corpse. If I'm going to try and live a healthy lifestyle, might as well.

...I've been studying accounting way too much. I'm now thinking of my body as a long-term asset to be depreciated, with the leftovers as residual value.

Since I'm pretty sure the funeral from the movie Eulogy is unfortunately illegal, I will settle for being cremated (after they've harvested every useful organ I've got left) and have my ashes spread in/near the ocean. And I also want my funeral to have an open bar and hopefully at least one good barfight.

By the time I hit fifty, I am fairly sure that someone, somewhere, will be working on or finished with a mortality cure.

Possibly I write too much fantasy. But hell, fifty years ago the Internet was sci-fi too.

I would really like to be mummified, ancient Egyptian-style, but that's kinda illegal and probably some kind of cultural appropriation and also I don't think there's a single embalmer anywhere who would be willing to drag my brain out through my nose. So I guess I'm not doing that.

Any useable organs donated, brain preserved / uploaded into supercomputer, the rest cremated and shot up into space because if I can't go into space in my lifetime, then dammit, I want it to be in my deathtime.

donate to science, unless I die in some way that means I can't do that. If that were the case, I'd prefer one of those enviro-friendly burials, but my family may choose to cremate me, since they're Hindu, and ultimately it would be about their grief and comfort over my personal wishes.

I don't give a shit. There's nothing of me there to care about it.
