I wasn't all that keen on Hagrid to begin with (gross carelessness is a pet peeve of mine), and the fact that he had absolutely zero character growth across seven books kind of sealed the deal on my not liking him. I thought when he started to deal with his half-giant nature, it might get better, but - nope, no change.
