I actually liked the series as a series. And personally I'd just hate watching just "parts" of a series, but hey whatever floats your boat. Brian/Justin makes my ovaries explode, so yeah.

I agree. It was a solid show, and if I only cared about two characters I probably wouldn't bother. Still, if OP enjoys it they enjoy it.

I didn't really like Brian/Justin though. *unpopular opinion*

I share your unpopular opinion! I really didn't like Brian and was pretty meh on Justin so them together was basically just bluuuh. Their sex scenes were pretty great though. :\

I'm weird like that. I sort of wanted to be Brian when I grew up. I think it was the first character on TV who really vocalized how I felt about marriage and society's way of seeing relationships.

And yeah, I's totally do both of them...

Everyone that I've talked to about QaF loved Brian so I guess that makes me the weird one, lmao.

I don't know, I know a lot of people who liked Brian, but mostly just because he's hot. I just honestly found him one of the mot interesting characters on TV back then.

Brian could be an asshole but I found him intriguing, but Justin I never got into. IDK what it was exactly because he had good moments and bad moments like all the other characters, but I was more interested in everyone else anyway. And Justin's actor DID look like a teen to me, so it set off alarms in my head and I couldn't even get into the sex scenes. /lame

I really liked Brian, even though he could be an asshole, he just seemed to own it. But, like you, I didn't really care about Justin. I didn't dislike him or anything, I just wasn't interested.

You're def right about that. He wasn't apologetic about who he was and even if that wasn't always the kindest person there was something neat about that. He didn't try to be anything he wasn't.

Poor Justin...

Sharing your unpopular opinion, too. Although I adored Brian. Couldn't stand Justin, though, and several other characters, as well.

I don't want Justin to be disliked, but ngl, I'm glad that I'm not the only one who isn't a huge fan of his character. I've never been too active in the fandom but from what I've seen of QAF fans he's always been really popular and I feel weird about not loving him because of that.

I liked Brian, too. He was a fascinating character, and fun to watch. I liked most the other cast members, but sometimes they would be particularly dickish or whatever and then I couldn't stand them.

dancing_serpent: (QaF - Brian - fragile)

[personal profile] dancing_serpent 2013-07-18 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't hate Justin, but I really really had no patience at all for him. QaF fandom adored him, though, and thought him soooo pretty. Well, he was, as long as he kept his mought shut - there was something about his teeth, I don't know, it gave his face an expression that had a strange effect on me.

Brian was fascinating, and I became more and more fixated on him over all the seasons. Some aspects of his backstory are very similar to my own, and I could relate so much. It's why I'll always love him. *g*

My problems with the other cast members were different for each character, but the most annoying of them all for me was Debbie. "But I'm his mother!" or "But she's his mother!" are not arguments that are valid to me, especially in regards to my own relationship with my mother. Sorry, but no.

but I really really had no patience at all for him

Yea, idk, I didn't either. I can't put my finger on it but something about his personality grated on my nerves. And he wasn't a bad looking guy but he was always a little young looking for me, and I couldn't find myself attracted to him for (partially) that reason.

Brian was such a central part of the show that it would be hard not to become fixated on him imo, like him or not. And his issues make for good tv. Heh.

Overall I love Debbie, and I think she meant well, but...yea, she was an overbearing mother. She often put her nose where it didn't belong; sometimes she helped out, sometimes she made things worse. It could be too much and I can see why people have problems with that.
