I find most of Crichton's stories to be better as movies, even if they're shitty movies (lol Congo). His plots are cool and his characters are unique enough to be interesting, but his writing style is very dry.

For the most part I agree--the only one of his books I like better as a book is Sphere. I still like the movie, but I prefer the book. But then, Sphere works very well with his style of writing.
