Favorite software!

We have a couple of game threads, but what about general favorite software?

QtTabBar lets Windows Explorer have tabbed windows! It's indispensable to me now.

Stardock's Fences is really great too. It lets you group icons on your desktop, and have multiple desktops, like on smartphones. It's amazing.

And I use XNView as a replacement for Window's photo viewer and for screenshots and easy photo edits. It has a lot of great tools and features, like batch editing.

Ooh, tabs in Explorer, I like the sound of that.

Lifehacker has a great explanation here. I seriously can't live without it now.

Love Fences, will not live without it. The best thing is double-click to hide all desktop icons, for when I want an unobstructed view of my weekly desktop hot-sexy-man. I tried XNView, but still prefer IrfanViewer.

And why have I never heard of QtTabBar before? *drools*

Anything that's not a game.

I really like the Torch internet browser; it's clearly based on Google Chrome, but it has fewer problems with copyright and things because it's not as well-known. (You can download Youtube videos with it, for example.)

I also like Picasa as a photo editing program and Scrivener as a writing program. :)

F.lux.

& I always got a kick out of Powerpoint as a kid and the old Windows tours on the 98.

I use LibreOffice, but I've learned to love spreadsheets. There's this huge thrill whenever and equation works right.

Not going to lie; I actually really love Excel. I've used it for so many different things at school, work, just for the hell of it... But mostly school while I was a physics major. :D

(edit: I've used other spreadsheet programs like OpenOffice and Apple's versions, but nothing does everything I want ever quite like Excel itself. :()

Scrivener has brought sunlight to my existence. I also really like Better Touch Tool and want to come up with more ways to make it useful to me.

CCleaner. It and Firefox are among the first things I install on every new computer now, so that I can get right to work removing bloatware. It's astonishing how much junk programs will leave behind in the registry when you uninstall them, or how much bullshit sneaks into your start up without actually being visible in the Programs folder.

Oh, yes, I love CCleaner too. Especially the registry cleaner. Good call!

AIMP3 is my only music player and I plan to use it as long as I used Winamp 2. (read: 12 years)
