It can still be pretty darned informed, thank you very much. You don't need to read an ENTIRE book to understand that the woman can't construct a paragraph and can't write dialogue for beans. You don't need to read every single sex scene to realize that a bad sex scene in first person present tense is just lousy.

And you sure don't need to read an entire book to see it completely mucking up the concept of BDSM, ignoring safe-sane-consensual in favor of downright abusive.

And you sure as hell don't need to read something to be dismayed by its popularity.
