Relief in your life recently?

(Anonymous) 2013-07-17 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I started a class yesterday that I was nervous about. I thought it would be really fast-paced and that I would be behind everyone, and I kept picturing a sterile white block of desks with a ruler-wielding Professor McGonagall at the front. Yeah, not what happened. I'm actually probably the quickest learner in the class and the teacher is super nice (and the room is aesthetically pleasing, which makes a surprisingly massive difference to my comfort levels).

Throughout my whole life I've had lots of friendly acquaintances but only one good friend...she's great and I only ever needed one, but at the same time I've always known that while she's my only friend I'm not hers. And then I moved to another hemisphere and didn't even have acquaintances. But! Not I have a new good friend! and that is definitely a relief in my life.

I've had chronic pain for ~8 years now, and today I got back some bloodwork that might maybe sort of point in the general direction of an explanation. And I mean, I'm not entirely thrilled because obviously I don't want there to be things wrong with me, but it's still a relief to have something I can point to that shows it's not just in my head.

My boyfriend decided to text me at work to suggest we take a break and said he'd help me move my stuff out that night. I texted him back and said I'd pick it up the next day and thought we should break it off entirely. I was super duper relieved because I'd been wanting to break up with him but couldn't stomach the drama and never would have been as disrespectful as to do it any other way than face to face but... he started it. It was so neat and clean and OVER!

Also loling forever because apparently he didn't really want to take a break. Kicking girls out via text is a tactic that has worked for him in past relationships. I'd laid down some boundaries he didn't like and then made plans to go out with friends without him instead of staying in to watch Sopranos and he thought this would get me to back down and give him the bonus of me staying in to fawn over him. ...didn't exactly work out that way.

The only downside is I unexpectedly had to cover someone else's shift at work so I only had about thirty minutes to pick everything up before he showed up. I did pretty good but I didn't get my Hawkeye washcloth from the hamper. :( Also he owes me some money but I'm considering it a good deal to be rid of him.

It hurt and pissed me off a lot at first but I was in such a good mood today there's no way I made the wrong decision.

That's awesome! I'm glad that your class turned out to be better than imagined, and IA about nice-looking rooms being a big boost.

My relief is I got an A in a summer class that, at one point, I was worried I was going to fail and have to retake. Whew!

After getting scammed with fraudulent paychecks from a fake employer, I got a job with a real, verifiably certified company. Huzzah!
