The statue's shirt is too tight. It was blousier! And Colin Firth has never had that chiseled of a jawline.

Kind of surprised BBC just went with it, but...!

I've never even seen that movie and that things is awful.

Not that it isn't a truly terrifying statue, because it is. One could easily have nightmares of that thing. But still, he was damn attractive in that movie...

What is that anyway?

[Picture is a promotional statue of Colin Firth playing Mr. Darcy from the 1995 TV miniseries "Pride and Prejudice". It is on the shore of the lake of the Hyde Park in London, in front of a bridge of some swans on the water. The statue is of a man with pale skin and short curly wet hair wearing a wet white shirt looking upset. In another picture is a screen-capture of the same scene from the TV show with the real life actor, who has tanned skin and the beginnings of a beard and mustache but otherwise looks the same (if much more lifelike and way less creepy).]

THIS [statue abomination] (oh my god please no) has ruined this [screen-capture] scene for me forever.

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOO. That is one ugly looking statue. The nipples poking out on the fake Firth are killing me.

I hope one day you are able to get past this disaster and embrace hot P&P Firth once again.

idk, the nipples look pretty realistic... just put a giant paper bag on its head and you can climb it like the real thing

I'll admit that even though I'm an rather implacable Colin Firth fan, I'm not especially fond of that scene in the first place (well, I am, though more for the subsequent awkwardness between Darcy and Lizzy than for the chiseled contours), but I definitely can see what you mean. The statue doesn't repulse me, per se, and I think it's rather amusing that it was constructed in the first place. Yet it feels like the sculptor(s) kind of made an attempt at accuracy, but missed a few crucial points that overall makes it plummet into the uncanny valley.
