I was just disgusted at how blatantly it was done to tear at fandom's hearts without actually doing anything risky. Last minute, someone most people like, not even really in the group anymore...it was such a safe, cheap choice.

Yesss this is the other reason it bothered me. It was very much a 'ohshit we want this ending to feel bittersweet, quick kill someone who doesn't matter' character death.

I didn't care until Artemis reacted, which tends to happen I get sort of relived a character I didn't like died for once and then I forget that a character I loved loved them and have to watch them grieve. But you know, crisis, speedster, it happens.

Weird for me to have a universe where I didn't like Wally, but YJ was that.

One of my many problems with YJ!Wally is that he was my favourite character in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited and they just fucked him up big time. :/

And yeah the other characters' reactions did get to me. :(

I never watch YJ, but I think there could be something to the fact that DC's TPTB already abused, killed, and erased the primary canon Wally West and generally treated the fans like dirt for caring about a character who'd held his own title for 20 years.

Oh that makes more sense. I'm aware that he's, well, a less shitty character in other versions - I looooved him in Justice League which is actually one of the reasons his characterisation in YJ pisses me off so much. :(

I think I'm the only person in the fandom who doesn't give two shits that he's dead. I never got why everyone loved him so much. Eh? ...I'm sorry guys you get on with your grieving I'll be over here.

The only thing I felt when Wally bit it was relief that it wasn't Kaldur, who's had a target on his forehead ever since he said he was only leader until Robin could do it; that it didn't pan out in the end was a surprise. And also I felt a little schadenfreude because goddamn do the speedsters in that show (I curse the day Impulse appeared) have the loudest fans, even worse than the Batfamily (or maybe it only seems worse to me because, unlike the Batfamily, I don't understand the appeal).

Dooooon't worry. I wasn't a fan of Wally at all and was grossly please when he died (the only downside being that Artemis was sad)
