I think out of all the characters they could bring back, he is my number #1. I love Gabriel, but I just love the idea of a fed being a hunter...though I guess if he came back from the dead he could not be a fed anymore. :C

Add Bobby, who died and then showed up twice more. And is going to in some way show up in season 9.

Maybe Gabriel, but rumors of him coming back have been going around since years before my involvement in fandom.

He was awesome. Shame that the only people who come back again and again are Dean, Sam, and Cas. (And maybe Bobby.)

This Badass Motherfucker's pointless sacrifice on the altar of Unrelenting Angst (Trade Mark) is the ONLY thing that made me ragequit Supernatural. (You'd think I would have caught a clue sooner?)

Wasn't enough to make me rage quit (Season 6 did that), but it was the final blow to any hope that law enforcement would be allowed to be useful. Hell, I actively hate the overindulgence in cops in urban fantasy, but Supernatural used it so much better than most and then crashed it into a brick wall for no particular reason with Hendrickson's death, and Sam and Dean have been invisible to the authorities ever since.

"They" went on a murder spree in season seven and were wanted for a while, that got wiped again as well, though.

Unlike everyone else who hates Sera Gamble for Seasons 6-7, her hack writing, perceived favoritisms, etc, Henrickson's pointless, wasteful death was what made me hate her (I don't even care if she was ordered to kill him by Kripke, it just made me hate her so much omg logic had no place in it).

He was so awesome, he would have been a fanfuckingtastic recurring/regular character, and I still get a little ragey when I think of what a waste his death was.

Of course, I get ragey about all the wasted characters and plot points on this show all the time, so this is just a drop in the bucket, I suppose.

What they did to the character of Ruby was what did it for me, but I feel you OP. What they did to Victor was pointless and unnecessary and the reasoning Kripke gave was just pathetic.

I can totally understand that, Hendriksen was great and I was really hoping they'd keep him around longer but nope, death happened. :\
