so recently i created a dreamwidth account because i was thinking about joining fandomfitness and also i want to make some friends (and tumblr is not the place to do that.)

but i don't really know what i'm supposed to do with it. i never had a livejournal, so the search system is confusing.

is it a blog? do i write stuff? i don't know.

Um...yeah, it can be used as a blog if you to, or you can just use it to post and comment in comms, or watch comms/friends.

Generally, I usually just go to goggle and search "-topic- dreamwidth" since the search system isn't that great.

It is part bloging part forums and also whatever the heck you want to do with it.

Some people only post fandom stuff in their journals, others post personal stuff, some use it to write stories and others do a mix of it. (you can also choose whom can view every post). Or you can just leave the journal completely empty and only use your username to post on F!S and so on.

The search system is confusing, what I do is mostly google whatever I want and add a Dreamwidth.org at the end to see what shows up. I would recommend just doing some general searches for stuff you are interested in and see what shows up, there are two different types of "users" the personal ones and the "forum" ones (called Communities) and what you want to follow are the Communities to begin with and just add people when you have talked to them a bit or through the friending memes that are everywhere.

If you have any specific questions you are always welcome to PM me and I will try to answer you to the best of my abilities.

It's basically just a blog/journal for you to say whatever you want. You can make your entries completely private, public or so only people in your circle can see them.

As for searching for things, type in something you're interested in, set it either on "Interest" or "Site and Account" and click Go. A list of communities and/or personal journals related to your interest will pop up and you can just click on whatever sounds interesting.
