I think "growing up" and being "an adult" is a made up concept. Most people are not as adult as they like to think. As long as you are able to live your life, take responsibilities and be a decent human being, it doesn't matter whether you only watch the news and read only newspapers and serious business books or love to watch kids' shows. A lot of people I've met who are still into things like cartoons (and fandom in general) at over 25-35 have a perfectly good understanding of what makes you a decent person and how you're supposed to act to function in a society, while a lot of people who went the "oh but I'm such an ADULT now" were shitty, self absorbed assholes, quite a bit in the way infants are. Being silly and having "childish" interests doesn't mean you're not an "adult".

So fuck "growing out" of your beloved fandoms - especially when they've helped you in your life. Treasure them and - when the time is right - share them with your kid(s).
