Re: Good characters for autism-spectrum people?
(I watched it on TV, but it disappeared. I recently saw it on Netflix.)
Re: Good characters for autism-spectrum people?
Yes, watch to the end.
(I love that show.)
Re: Good characters for autism-spectrum people?
Stupid Syfy and them always cancelling shows for more shitty reality programs.
Re: Good characters for autism-spectrum people?
I would say.... OK, in full disclosure, I got more emotionally invested in this show and in the character of Dr. Rosen than I have in any show/character in years, so take this with a grain of salt. If the show had gotten a third season, I would be reccing this show to high heaven, because it was absolutely genius up till the very end. But because it ends on that cliffhanger, that makes the second season really painful -- like, up till the moment I found out the show was cancelled, it was one of my favorite shows of all time, and now I can't bear to rewatch it. In hindsight, it's like all hurt and no comfort, you know?
You can tell where the cliffhanger's resolution would have been heading, and it would have been awesome, and the fates of all the characters except Rosen are pretty telegraphed as being good things. Rosen gets a bit of emotional closure before the end, and chances are his fate would have been good, too, but it was too up in the air for me personally to feel any satisfaction in the end.
BUT ALL THAT SAID, I would say, yes, watch it! The second season was much more emotionally engaging and intense and well-written than the first (and I loved the first season!), and they introduced a new character (Kat) who sounds annoying on paper but was really fun in reality. Go for it!
Re: Good characters for autism-spectrum people?
Okay, I'll give it a shot! I liked Dr. Rosen from what I remembered, Gary, and the girl who smelled things. Glad to hear they got a bit of resolution (or hinted resolution). Shame that Syfy likes to cancel all things beloved by fans.
Hopefully there is some fix-it fic out there to make the cliffhanger not so hurtful.
